Noiva do Cordeiro:
for one and everyone
Documentary about the matriarchal comunnity Noiva do Cordeiro in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
How could a future beyond patriarchy and capitalism look like? Near the capital of Minas Gerais, in an extremely patriarchal country like Brazil, there is a matriarchal community called NOIVA DO CORDEIRO. This community practices what many political movements in Europe aspire to: gender equality, collective care work, communal living and working, extensive autonomy and self-sufficiency, an economy oriented towards necessity, and much more. NOIVA DO CORDEIRO is not a political project of urban intellectuals but a village that has consciously chosen this way of life together. In this context, joint cultural production and grassroots democratic education play an important role. The film provides insight into this unique community and, through documentary footage and interviews, reflects on the different possibilities a society beyond patriarchy could offer.
